Brains are stupid.
I figure knowing you have a problem is halfway to the solution.
I need to give my novel one final solid edit before I hit up beta readers. I should just be able to dive in and make it happen. And I will. But I wondered if I could help myself out s a little. Enter: The Editing Board.

My novel has 4 acts, and 15 chapters in each [correct at time of printing], so I’ve drawn up this visual schedule to help me feel like I’m making progress.
The night’s editing will obviously be planned into my bullet journal, but I thought something visual to show me moving along to the finish line might also help me keep my brain from turning it into a gargantuan task that I suddenly would never feel like attending to because I’d not have enough time in any night to complete it, or make a difference, so why bother?
So far, it’s been satisfying turning each chapter’s icon red. And I made the board while watching tv, so I’ve not sunk any extra time into it.
Let’s hope I keep it up. And if I have another task with ~60 moving parts I’ll be sure to employ this method again.
